PUCO contract awarded to Ventech to develop PUCOS’s Consumer portal

Public Utility Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has awarded a web development and data integration contract for developing consumer energy choice from market-based utility service suppliers to the state of Ohio. This solution also addresses the need to educate Ohio consumers of legislative changes affecting the electric and natural gas utility industry in Ohio, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO, Commission) created the Office of Retail Competition (ORC) in June, 2012. The mission of the ORC is to improve awareness, trust and understanding of market-based utility service in Ohio.

The scope of the work includes developing various web based interactive tools with calculations capabilities, an interactive tool for the user to compare service offers and see the cost difference/values, a secured portal for service provider to manage their information. The portal is being architected using Microsoft MVC 4.0 architecture framework with SQL Server database.
